Galactica CIC Wall Ornament

November 25, 2008 · Print This Article

Above the arches leading to the two major doorways of Galactica’s CIC are circular wall ornaments that show the ship’s name and Battlestar Group number, in this case “BSG-75″.

One of the ornaments on an arch in front of the venerable CIC glass doors.

These ornaments, of which only two exist, are made of wood and painted gold and black. Measuring 33 1/4″ in diameter and 2″ deep, these items are iconic pieces of Galactica’s CIC—particularly as one of these seals were featured at the end of the opening credit sequence in Season 1. Further, the existence of such ornaments are echoed in both Pegasus’s and Valkyrie’s CICs, in addition to various larger ornaments such as those seen at the Caprica Transfer Station in “Razor” and President Richard Adar’s office in Season 2’s “Epiphanies“.

Joe, I remember pulling them off the wall and carrying them triumphantly to the office. These are the coolest pieces of set dec from the show in my opinion.

That was a very cool moment. I remember pulling them down as well, so that they wouldn’t sprout legs and walk off.

These are definitely one of the finer pieces from the show.
