Asclepius pendant

In Season 4’s “Escape Velocity“, a new Lord of Kobol is revealed: Asclepius, the God of Healing. In the mainstream polytheistic faith of the Twelve Colonies, Asclepius is idolized by a small medallion of a caduceus, which is hung around the neck.

Series Relevance

After an attack on Gaius Baltar’s commune by the Sons of Ares, a fundamentalist splinter group, some of Baltar’s followers begin expressing doubts as to his message. Directed by his “Head Six“, Baltar consoles an older woman named Lilly, who holds this pendant in her hand. While she professes her belief that Baltar will heal the people—though cannot explain why—she ultimately believes that praying to Asclepius would be beneficial. Spurred by the attack, the wavering faith of his followers, and by the urgings of his Head Six, Baltar proceeds to attack a mainstream temple on Galactica during its services, for which he is arrested for.
