Flight Suit Riot!

November 27, 2009

Today I would like to address a question that has been bouncing around in my head ever since Battlestar the series began.  The question is this: why do those frakkers look so cool all the time?  In space!  The answer: their flight suits of course!  When our astronauts here in the good old USA put on their suits, they look like marshmallows with American flags on their shoulders.  They are certainly puffier and less menacing than the sleek, shiny and physique-flattering BSG flight suits.  These flight suits feature silver wrist cuffs, suede vests, and awesome patches and pins.  Not to mention they are made from a material SO durable, it will protect you against the destructible elements of unknown atmospheres!  (on the show people, not in real life.  Do NOT try this at home.)

In the next auction we will be offering two Battlestar Galactica flight suits.  This could be the week of auctions that you take home a flight suit of your very own!  Take a closer look:

BSG Props Raptor Flight Suit, Size Small

Small Raptor flight suit.  This costume was worn by background actors throughout the series.  Production-made flight suit (size Small), including Senior Lieutenant rank pins, Standard Flight Wing pin, BSG patch on left shoulder, Raptor patch on right shoulder, silver wrist cuffs on the wrists and ankles, and a flight vest.

you too, can be the proud owner of a flight suit.

BSG Props Burned Raptor Flight Suit, Size Large

Small burned Raptor flight suit. Pilots wore flight suits to protect them from the extreme temperatures of outer space. This costume was worn by background actors throughout the series.  Production-made flight suit (size large), that has been burned and extremely distressed. The suit features a Raptor patch on the right shoulder, silver cuffs on the wrists and ankles, burned flight vest and gloves.

Buccaneers!

November 23, 2009

Like every other typical American girl, I am obsessed with fantasy sports leagues.  I mean, who isn’t?  Picking your favorite players, trash talking your co-managers/best buddies, winning 100 dollars at the end of a well-played season.  Now, I’ll bet you didn’t know this, but I have it on good authority that before the destruction of the Twelve Colonies, Fantasy Pyramid Leagues were all the rage. (Well, not on Sagittaron.  There it was looked upon as gambling.  Those Sagittarons need to cut loose once in a while if you ask me).  And within these leagues, the number one player pick of every season, without fail, was Samuel T. Anders.  He was the Beckham of his time… and the answer to your next question is yes, that would indeed make Kara Thrace the Posh Spice.

Alright, I may or may not have made that up.  But let’s just admit something right now–the C-Bucs and Samuel T. Anders rule! Especially in “The Plan”, when we get to see an in-depth look at the freedom fighting Cylon resistance force they were creating.  Tough, courageous heroes AND professional athletes–best combination ever.  Coming up in this next auction, we are offering many items worn and used by the Caprica Buccaneers in “The Plan”.  You can get your very own C-Bucs uniform, patch, athletic bag, and more.  Check out the following items so you can be a legend, just like Anders! (well not the Cylon thing, but all the rest of it):

photo-3

Buccaneers Bags
We will be auctioning two separate C-Bucs bags, one black and one red. Caprica Buccaneers team bags like this were handed out to team members to carry their equipment and uniforms around. Production labeled this bag as being used in the telefilm “The Plan.” Production-modified gym bag with top, front and back zippered pockets. Two large Buccaneers patches are sewn onto the bag, one on the top and the other on the side. Measures 12″ x 12″ x 17″.

Bet you can't guess which one is the real ball? Oh, you got it.

Pyramid Ball
A backup pyramid ball as used in scenes with the resistance and the Caprica Buccaneers pyramid team. Production modified miniature soccer ball painted black with three red stripes. Vinyl ball, unknown manufacturer, core is most likely foam. Ball is weathered. Black and red paint has cracked over part of the surface. Ball measures 4.5″ in diameter; detonator measures 1.75″ in diameter and 0.5″ high.

Pyramid Ball Grenade
C-Bucs player Wheeler stuffed C4 explosive into a pyramid ball and added a detonator to make “a homemade grenade.” Used by Lawrence Haegert in the telefilm “The Plan.” Production-modified miniature soccer ball painted black with three red stripes and one hexagonal piece made into a hinge so a rubber “detonator” could be placed inside. Ball measures 4.5″ in diameter; detonator measures 1.75″ in diameter and 0.5″ high.

Set of Four Buccaneers Mugs
Four ceramic Caprica Buccaneers mugs. Perfect for keeping beverages hot or for toasting a successful C-Bucs high-altitude training drill. Double version of the prop seen in the telefilm “The Plan.” Production-made ceramic mugs, each with two Caprica Buccaneers logos emblazoned on a crimson and amber stripe. Each mug measures 3.25″ in diameter x 3.75″ high.

Buccaneers Uniforms, Various Styles and Sizes
Caprica Buccaneers uniforms were worn while the team conducted high-altitude training on Caprica prior to the Cylon attack. Afterwards the C-Bucs were seen wearing these uniforms throughout their months on Caprica as resistance fighters under the leadership of Samuel T. Anders. The following uniforms were worn by characters and/or background actors in the telefilm “The Plan”:

Coach’s C-Bucs uniform and stunt uniform, Kai’s C-Bucs uniform and stunt uniform, Sue Shawn’s uniform, Wheeler’s uniform, Rally’s uniform and Various Background used C-Bucs Uniforms, sizes M, L, XL, XXL.

I Need a Hero

November 17, 2009

This week is going to be an important one in the history of our lives.  It will be a week that sets apart the men from the boys, the women from the girls, the rational from the crazy.  This is the week Home Depot sells out of steel bar sliding locks for doors and all grocery stores overstock canned goods, only to find themselves a barren wasteland of empty shelves at the end of each day.  Armageddon?  Apocalypse?  No, this is not the end of the world–but it is the end of the world as we know it.  This is the week when that little movie–that vampire/human love story starring a skinny British hipster and a washboard stomached 17-year-old werewolf–hits theaters.  Essentially, this week, the power of Tween Fandom obliterates the country by descending upon it with such insane zombie-esque mob strength, that it leaves nothing in its path.  Be afraid.  Be very…wait a minute!  Maybe we shouldn’t run from these fanatics just yet.  These people want a piece of something they love, just like us.  Right?

Are we really that far removed from these fantasy/romance loving fan-kids?  I think you know the answer to that.  We LOVE our BSG.  And I bet you two cubits (get it? cubits.) that you would be just as crazed if you saw Edward James Olmos walking down the street in skinny jeans, a Duty Blue Jacket and a pale, sullen look in his eyes.  Well…maybe not.  Perhaps our fanaticism is a little more adult and sophisticated than that.  Perhaps we pride ourselves on being able to walk around like normal people by day, and only let the excited 15 year-old fan side of us come out in the comfort of our own home.  Only when we sit in front of the computer screen and log on to eBay to look upon the new items up for auction.  Our tummies begin to flutter as we realize these items could be ours!  Because, as “responsible adults”, with “responsible adult jobs”–we can afford all the cool toys we want!  Rad!!!  And lets just admit right now that the best “toys” of all, are the hero props.  These are the props that were actually touched, specifically USED BY our favorite characters (Swoon!!).  Just think, if only you could hold THE SAME notepad that Baltar doodled on!  What if you could wear the ACTUAL dog tags worn by Gaeta?! (Shriek!)  Guess what…YOU CAN!!! (Gasp. Faint.)  For the next auction, we are going to offer you several opportunities to own some hero items from your favorite show of all time (BSG, of course!).  Here are some of the items.  Go for it, you fellow fanboys:

Gaeta’s Dog Tags
Felix Gaeta’s dog tags with chain. Standard Galactica tags with the colonial seal, “L. Gaeta,” and serial number etched onto each tag. Distressed condition.

Lee Adama’s Watch
Lee Adama’s screen-used, hero watch worn during the dream sequence while floating on his back in the water in Season Two’s “Resurrection Ship.” The watch is made by Nixon. The watch face has been modified to read “asmodei.” Functionality of prop is unknown. Measures about 2½″ in diameter.

Baltar’s Hero Page of Notes from Trial
The hero notepad from the trial of Baltar in Season Three of BSG. The notepad includes pages of “doodles” and notes drawn by James Callis as Gaius Baltar.

Tom Zarek’s Quorum Pin
Tom Zarek’s hero Quorum of Twelve pin. This is the hero pin worn by Richard Hatch as Tom Zarek, while the character was a representative of Sagittaron. Small production modified pin. The pin is plastic and has been painted sliver. The pin has red backing and measures .75″ long.

Simon’s Hero Suicide Note
Hero suicide note written by the Number Four Cylon Simon, who lived as a Colonial medic aboard the Cybele and had married Giana O’Neil. He killed himself out of resurrection range rather than destroy his ship and family like Fleet Cavil ordered him to. As seen in the telefilm “The Plan.” Production-made handwritten note “torn” from a book with cut corners. The note reads, “My Dear Giana Forgive me. Kiss Jemmy for me. Love outlasts death Your Simon”. Measures 8.3″ x 7.1″.

The Space Devil Doesn’t Wear Prada

November 12, 2009

Friends, allow me to speak freely, if you will.  I think we have come to know each other quite well in these past few weeks.  There is a trust of sorts.  Do you feel it?  Good.  It’s because of this immediate bond, that I choose to admit something to all of you.  Something that has to do with my dark past.   Ok, here goes:  I didn’t stop playing Barbies until a little later in life.  I played way, way longer than I should have.  Years longer.  I think my mom finally pried my two favorites (Beach Roller Blader and Astronaut Barbie) from my adolescent hands at the embarrassing age of 14.  Sad?  Yes.  Did it have any adverse effects on the person I am today?  Well…yes.  It has left me with an unbridled need to wear roller blades by day and evening gowns at night.  Also, I have to tackle my daily obsession with space suits.

I like to play Space Dress Up.  It’s true.  Any and all non earth-related costumes have a power over me like no other thing.  No article of space clothing is safe.  I see it, and I picture what it would look like on me.  My imagination goes crazy summoning up endless stories of the adventures I could have if only I was wearing said costume.  So, it is no surprise that I am like a kid in a candy warehouse here at Propworx.  I get to see all these things on a daily basis…flight suits, NCP uniforms, even green BDUs…all used on Galactica.  Pinch me.

But hey, I have NOT written this to say “nah, nah, nah, nah, naaaah” (that is meant to be read in a mocking/singsongy way).  I am writing this to inspire you to start your OWN “candy warehouse”.  Your OWN closet full of space treasures.  Play Barbies with yourself! Bid on some of our costumes so they can be yours to try on anytime you want!!!  Here are some of the classic BSG outfits that we will have available in the next week of auctions.  Feast your eyes on these oldies but, oh so goodies…

Battlestar Galactica Male Duty Blues, Size XL

Standard Duty Blue uniform worn by Colonial officers.  The jacket (approximately size 44) has gray piping, captain rank insignia, standard pilot wings and Galactica patch on left shoulder.  The pants are X-Large as well (approximately size 48).  This uniform was worn by background performers during the run of the show.  This could be a very regal costume for you, if you are a broad, strapping man that looks good in uniform.

Battlestar Galactica Women’s Hooded Sweat Suit

A dark gray Battlestar Galactica sweat suit.  The top is a gray zip-up hoodie with front pockets and patch on left breast.  The bottoms are drawstring pants with a patch above the left leg, near the hip.  There is no size information available, but seems to be approximately a large.  With this outfit, you can look just like Kara Thrace in her memorial wall photo.

It's okay to get cozy in space.

Flight Deck Crew Yellow Coveralls, Size 42L

This is a yellow jumpsuit (size 42L) with white reflective stripes running down the sides and a Galactica patch on the left arm.  It includes an attached black rubber tool vest and yellow Ringers gloves.  This costume was used for motion capture purposes by production.

2 Green BDUs (M/L and XL)

We are offering TWO chances to win Green BDUs this week!  Two complete green battle dress uniforms with jackets featuring Galactica patch, pants, and rank pins.  These are screen-used costumes worn by either a background extra or by a guest star.

2 Battlestar Galactica BDU Tank Top Sets (M and LG)

2 BDU tank tops and undershirts, one set is size medium and the other, size large.  The tank tops were made by the wardrobe department especially for Battlestar Galactica.  They are screen-used and were worn by either a background extra or by a guest star.

The Hard Six

November 10, 2009

Season after season we have watched our “Six” grow from a very tall, beautiful, earnest Cylon into a very tall, beautiful…uh, well we watched her remain the same and we love her for it. We count on her predictability. We know her so well. Almost to the point where we could go shopping for her–if ever asked to do such a job. And if we did, we would definitively head straight for the skimpy, tight, backless, red dress section and start grabbing. Then we would obviously make our way to the halter tops. And finally, if time permits, a quick stop in the pointy boots area. That should about do it.

I cannot tell you how many days I have said to myself, “Can’t I just for ONCE see ‘Six’ in something a little different? Sleazier? With chains? Perhaps with longer hair?! Or darker even? I know, why not feather it?! And while we’re changing the hair, let’s change her man! Let’s give her someone else to sleep with. Enough of this Baltar business!” Now, I know I am not alone in thinking these things. You too? Knew it.

Well, someone must’ve heard us when creating “The Plan”. The solution came in the form of “Tough SIx”. (Who the folks around here refer to as “Hard Six”. Because of our affinity for Craps…and double entendre.) She is still our Tricia Helfer, with the same knockout face and body. The difference is this time, we don’t have to see her in bed with the suave and handsome Baltar. We get to see her in a torrid love affair with, um, a more distinguished partner. A wiser lover. Enjoying the company of a seasoned gentleman. Oh alright, she is having an affair with Cavil and it is borderline disturbing. But different and exciting nonetheless. And her hair is indeed, darker, longer and more feathered, just like we wanted. The woman even wears a leather bra and chains, what a difference!

Last week, we had the first of Tough Six’s outfits up in our auction. The outfit consisted of a sleeveless black button-down vest, leather black bra with silver studded cups, burgundy jeans with black acid wash, a leather choker-style collar with silver chains and stiletto-heeled ankle boots with straps. The item had 13 bidders, and ended up going for $1,055.50. I know the rest of you with your eye on that auction were greatly disappointed to miss out on owning it. I myself was eyeing that chain choker with envy and am sad to see it go. Well, because seeing you disappointed is the last thing I would ever want, I thought I would give you a preview of the two, that’s right TWO “Tough Six” outfits we have coming up in the next round of auctions. So you will still have your chance to get a piece of this unique side of “Six”.

The first is a black sheer mesh and lace strapless negligee with matching sheer lace panties. As if this skimpy ensemble wasn’t exciting enough already, included as an accessory is a black lace choker with three silver chains. There is no size information available, but judging from the looks of it, I would call it “teeny tiny”.

The second outfit is a shirt and leather jacket ensemble. A long-sleeved brick red sheer cotton shirt by Hugo Boss with button-down front. Size 36. The jacket is by Kenneth Cole Reaction with four front flap-style pockets. It is a size medium.

Try it on, Kel! The jacket and choker fit, I'm sure that thing will too.

Hmm. The jacket and choker fit. So, in theory, this should too...

Keep watching the countdown clock.  Your day to own these items is rapidly approaching.

Happy bidding!

Let the Countdown Begin! And Catalogs available on eBay.

November 6, 2009

Well, week 1 of 4 of the “33″ auctions featuring items from “The Plan” is over and you now have less than 33 days to go before auction # 2.  Keep track of this with the 33 countdown clock on our home page.

Also, we have listed the first and second auction catalogs on eBay for a Buy It Now of $ 35 each, or get $ 10 off when you buy a set!.  So if you never got them, please go to eBay and check them out.

Note that we pack catalogs very well and ship UPS.  We had a lot of problems early on with a fulfillment provider shipping using USPS Medial Mail, or Priority Mail and so we ship these ourselves, wrapped in bubble wrap.  These are collectors items and as you all well know, we take our collectibles seriously!

Five Cylons for the price of one!

November 4, 2009

This week in the “33″ auctions” we have a special lot that we have not done before:  one of each of the five Cylon gunnery range targets that the fleet used to get their anger and aggression out on.    These targets have been sold separately before (just check out the Battlestar Galactica auction archive), but never as a set.   This may be your chance to get a great deal, or go in with your friends and split them up.

We saw Starbuck shooting out the Leoben target, and Kat took some shots at the Sharon target after the gyro thing that was meant to cause you to lose your equilibrium.  There were a few scenes where the Cylon Target was in the background as well.

When sold individually, the prices have ranged based on which character’s image was on the target.  The Cylon Centurion is the most popular and has sold for a low of $ 260, to a high of just over $ 1,000!  Simon is the least popular, but maybe more so now that his character is a lot more likable in “The Plan”.  Opps!  Did I just give a spoiler?

I think this lot could go in the $ 4-500 range and be a steal!  So chat with your buddies and pass around the hat.  This will be a great deal I am sure.

Also, there are one of each target available separately in case you just want one.  But be careful!  We have seen a lot of people moving to snipe programs over the last 6 months and that means prices are deceptively low till the last 10 seconds!  So bid early and bid your maximum.  You don’t want to get snipped for a few dollars and regret it!

Good hunting!

Alec
