We had a Cylon virus plaguing our system, luckily it got purged — good ol’ Gaeta is good for something after all.

Alright, Make a Hole!

May 21, 2009

So I wanted to clear up some information some of you have been confused about.  First of all, The Airlock Auctions.  This means two different things, one is that we are in the home stretch, the end is coming, Earth is on the horizon.  In other words, these are the LAST AUCTIONS for Battlestar Galactica.  We are looking at 8-10 weeks and then its gone gone gone.  Second, the Airlock Auctions are also about our new store, which will open not this Sunday, but next sunday the 31st.  In the store you will be able to buy an item at a fixed price.  This will be good for all of you guys who get snipe bid at the last moment!  Items in the store will generally be things like Election Ballots, or BSG Laundry bags, Pegasus books, ect.  Lots of good stuff, the but best stuff will be saved for Ebay listing, so dont forget about us!  Items will be added to the store at least three or four times, as it takes us time to get every item photo’d and COA’d and all that, but you guys should have a great selection to choose from!

Secondly, the Cylon War Painting limited print.  We should have the ordering information on our website in the next few days.  The limited edition patches will also be available through the website, and possibly in our ebay store, though we are still talking about that.

I talked to Curtis, our shipping manager, and he copied me on his first post on the forum (go harass him there, muahahaha! He’s a new fan of the show, isnt that great?!)  and I’m going to post it here for you guys who dont go beyond this page.

From Curtis:

First, I just wanted to thank everybody for their support and patience when it comes to getting your BSG items. I know everybody wants them like yesterday. We have just started to process the Live Auction items today. We have had a few glitches to work out to ensure that there are no mistakes, but should be dialed in by Friday. I am very confident that we will be shipping around 75-100 packages per day by May 26th. This includes the new eBay auctions as well.

Everybody is asking about what gets priority and in which order we will be shipping.

1. Previous eBay auctions will be completely shipped(except for anything that we have COA issues-around 10-15) by May 22th.
2. Live Auction will have priority over the new eBay auctions but we will still have to process eBay(15-30) daily.
3. For Live Auction-for the most part we will be processing by bidder #. Winners of larger items that need crating and freight shipment will be sporatic and towards the bottom of the list. This is so we can get the majority of the other items shipped very quickly. It is really hard to be focusing on so many things at once and this will keep everything organized.

I have the best crew when it comes to shipping! With that being said, there is just 3 of us. Kellie matches the items with the COA’s and invoices. She makes sure that everything is correct. Matt is the expert packer. He double checks to make sure all the items/COA’s match the invoice. Matt then packs everything like his life depended on it. Like I said, THE BEST CREW!

I just have a few requests from all the great BSG fans out there:

1. Please do not email me asking if or when your item will ship. If you have not received a Paypal request for shipping charges, or an email from UPS with tracking info, we have not processed. I am very diligent in answering emails, but these I will just delete. I don’t have the time.
2. A lot of you have asked me to ship items to alternate addresses. So many that I cannot keep track of. So, when you receive your Paypal request, email me immediately after it is paid with the shipping address.
3. Please do not try to contact me through eBay. (Note from Erin: I get these emails on ebay, not Curtis, thats why he asks you not to email him there) I will post my contact info below.

I always do my best to save everybody money with shipping, and for my international friends-brokerage, duty, and taxes. I promise that I will always ship the best way possible. To do this, I take into account price, insurance, and tracking capability.

You guys can contact Curtis here:

Please let me know if you guys have any more questions I’m forgetting, and I’ll do my best to answer.  Catch you next time!  Erin

Whatever Happened to the Stealth Star?

May 20, 2009

Do you guys remember the Stealth Star? It was the ill fated stealth Viper that Bulldog piloted before being captured by the Cylons in the Season Three episode “Hero.” Considering the Stealth Star was a completely “one-off” Viper design the production didn’t want to invest much time or money into creating a cockpit specifically for Bulldog to be seen in for such a brief scene. Set Dec cleverly redressed the interior filming cockpit used for the Mark II and VII for use as the Stealth Star cockpit. But wait, it gets even better. We have discovered in our treasure trove of production blueprints the plans that specify how the filming cockpit was to be modified to become the Stealth Star.

Of note the plans specify to “Paint all Mk 7 blue surfaces to black.” The actual filming cockpit is still in this paint configuration as all of the interior surfaces are still in flat black paint. Other items to note is that all of the screen graphics and cockpit lighting were to be changed to red/orange to give it that “classic” military stealth bomber cockpit feel. The final item was to “Turn off all lights + switches on all existing consoles.” This helped add to the stealthy feel of the cockpit. Here is the filming cockpit as it would be shown in Mk VII livery.

Look for this fantastic piece of art in next weeks eBay “Airlock Auction.”

Good Hunting Nuggets!

Ebay is Back!

May 19, 2009

That’s right, all of you who were wishing/praying/crying, cry no more!  We are back with some fantastic auctions, some of which were chosen by you!  I had gotten some questions and requests and I’ve done my best to put those items up, so dont let me down guys, lets see the bids!

One of those items requested are Hotdogs tags.  Now I originally thought we did not have another set of these, but I went rampaging through the character bins, and voila! Hotdogs hero bin, with a set of tags.  Sweet!  These are a great set, and the last for Hotdog, so get um while there hot!

Another item I picked special for a few of the girls on the board.  That’s right Cain fans, this one is for you!  This week we have the gym bag for Helena Cain, Admiral of the Battlestar Pegasus.  This gym bag was not shown on screen, but is still a great item for the Cain-atic in your life!

Finally we have a few different paintings by Kara “Starbuck” Thrace, from her time aboard the Demetrius.  These are fantastic pieces, some done on canvas, some on file folders, all showing Kara’s growing obsession with finding Earth.  She was so engrossed in this mission, she painted on everything, the canvas, the bulkhead, file folders, you name it and she painted on it.  Hey, we sold her painted up bdu’s at the live auction, where is that guy/girl?  YOU NEED THESE!!  See, look how helpful I am!  Well, at least I’m not calling his/her house…ooo, good idea..

Anywho, these and more can be yours this week, lets see some good bidding everyone!  Remember, how you guys bid influences what I put up, so make sure you get the good stuff up there!  Also, I love the chatter I’ve seen on the boards, and I do look for the stuff you guys ask for (see all above stuff!) so keep up the comm traffic!  Hope you all had a great weekend, and I look forward to our last few weeks of auctions.  So say we all!

Custom Insignia Patches

May 18, 2009

Those of you who are familiar with the Second Auction Catalog by now, have all probably seen the commissioned illustrations we had done up for the section divider pages. These brand new insignia designs were created by Mark Daniels from Sublevel Studios especially for our Second Auction catalog with permission from NBC/UNI. The patches were not seen in the show but are inspired by Squadron insignia as seen on costumes and the wall plaques which lined the walls of the Pilot Ready Room aboard the Galactica.

We have seven original designs that will look great on a Bomber Jacket or baseball cap. Each patch is fully embroidered and measures 3.5″ at the widest/tallest point. We had our patches embroidered by the same company that embroiders patches for the US military. How’s that for snazzy.

The seven patches are;
Galactica – “The last of the Best”
Viper Mk II
Viper Mk VII
Stealth Viper Blackbird
Raptor
Raider
Heavy Raider

A neat idea we came up with was to offer these patches to fans of the show. Many of you picked up your set of patches at the auction. We will be offering the patches through our online storefront in the next few days so stay tuned.

Post Apocalyptic Breakdown

May 15, 2009

Have you ever been so tired and worn out that every muscle and brain cell in your body aches. Well, that has been the Propworx crew for the past few days. Our second Battlestar Galactica auction has been by far the most triumphant and exhausting auctions we have ever done. I want to share with you some photo highlights of the weekend.

First off moving in and set up. The hall we had was enormous. Big enough to have full size hangar bay support columns erected in the space and have them look tiny.

Setting up the columns

Everything in the displays started off in super organized and well categorized bins and boxes.

Bins and boxes

All to be set-up in the display cabinets for the grand opening with in a few days.

One thing the fans rarely ever get to see is the Viper in pieces. Here is the Mark II minus wings and nose.

You really appreciate how much effort went into building these life size ship mockups when you get the chance to put one together. It’s like a giant model set. All part of the fun of setting up the auction display.

On to the beauty shots. These following photos were captured by our intrepid photographer Lee Webb, enjoy.

The Blackbird Stealth Viper. Such a beautiful piece.

This guy actually made the “vroom-vroom-vroom” roving eye sound. It is awesome!

The CIC display looks ready for some serious combat.

Adama’s quarters display was a true work of art. It was a very cozy looking display.

The Pegasus display was as cold and harsh as the Admiral Cain. It invoked chills looking over the display.

Cylon raider is HUGE! Huge I say!

For those lucky enough to attend the auction, they got the wonderful opportunity to actually sit in the Viper Mark II. Now don’t you wish you came.

This shot is just incredible, it really shows the prominence of the Viper Mark II.

I hope you enjoyed these beauty shots, I certainly appreciate the visual impact that the Auction helped bring to all that attended.

What do you hear? Nothing but the rain…

Grab your Gun and Bring in the Cat!

May 13, 2009

This is what blogs look like before they are born, aww.

This is what blogs look like before they are born, aww.

This weekend has been a total Blast! (Quiet TCF’ers!) We had the most amazing auction ever seen and I’m so proud to have been apart of it all.

So here is a recap of events of this past weekend. Monday through Wednesday the Propworx crew drove out to Pasadena and lifted stuff. A lot of stuff. Heavy stuff. Then came the putting together of each “set.” We spent alot of time making it look like the real thing for you guys, and I think we succeeded!  On Thursday, after a cup of hot Chocolate, (sorry, I dislike coffee!) I went down to get the final touches done before we opened the doors. Everything was set, the Cylon tub, (totally sat in it while cleaning the inside) the hanger deck walls, Kara’s paintings( I kept hearing All Along the Watchtower over there, weird huh?)  and of course, my weekend favorite, Lampkins dead cat.  It was all fun from then on as we opened the doers and everyone came in, like kids in a candy store. This time around we allowed everyone to get pictures in the Viper, and boy was that popular!   Even our guests from the show tried it! Speaking of, the highlight of the night was surely our cast and crew panels, which were so much fun! There were stories, video’s, a preview of “The Plan,” everything! It was a great way to end the day.

I had too much fun showing Lampkins cat

Day one of auctions was very exciting, we had a lot of amazing lots go up for great numbers, including Adama’s duty blues, which went for $12000 ! Everyone had a great time watching the bidders fight that one out as well.   Day one was also our first day with special guest Michael Hogan, who was very gracious and take pictures and signed autographs all day for fans. We also had Luciana Carro with us again, she had been at the panel Thursday and we were delighted to see her all through the rest of the auction. Day two and we were moving full Steam ahead, lots of great pieces! Luciana’s Top Gun mug, which went for over 3 thousand dollars, all of which goes to her charity. Congratulations!   Day 3, all of our sets went up, I’m sad to see them go! Adama’s couch, the pilots bunk, even the Pyramid game goal, all of it now has a home.

Now we go back to the lifting. Let me tell you guys, I got quite the workout, it took us almost three days to get everything out of there! Rest assured that it’s all back with us now and you will be getting it soon!  We have changed and refined our shipping process from last auction. All of our items were COA’d  , signed and stickered before we went to auction, so all that’s left is to pack it and send it out.   Please let me know how much you love your stuff when you get it, its been a labor of love for us, and we want you guys to be happy with your wins!

Propworx and TCF volunteers

I want to thank Kurt and Becky at NBC Universal for making this happen and giving us the support to make this event what it was.  I’d also like to mention Alec, our CEO, who has worked very hard for these last few months, for being so fantastic to work with. Our team here at Propworx is very hardworking, and they are also some of the coolest people I know. Thanks to Steve, who did tons of work on Auction two, lots of late nights making sure everything was ready! Thanks also to our shipping crew, Curtis, Kellie and Matt. These guys will make sure you get your stuff fast and safe, they are amazing! Another thanks to my part timers, Thomas, Damian, Autumn, and Heidi for being so amazing and energetic, always willing to help with anything. Thanks to the TCF who are the best volunteers ever, I dont have words good enough for you guys! Finally, thanks to all of you guys who showed up and all of you who bid online! this job is all about bringing the show to the fans and you guys are the best and classiest in the business.   Without you I quite literally wouldn’t have a job, and I thank you truly.

Weekend Recap

May 11, 2009

Michael Hogan meets Col. Tigh?

Quick recap of day two: Lots of things were sold at amazing prices! We had some great guests including Lucciana Carro, Michael Trucco, and Michael Hogan. Autographs were signed, pictures were taken and everyone had a great time. We even sold Lampkins dead cat!

Some of yesterdays top items included the Pegasus model, Viper and Raptor helmets, as well as Cally’s flight deck helmet. It got quite exciting as Michael Hogan’s directors chair backing rent up, and was eventually sold on the floor. Michael generously signed it for the winner, what a nice guy!

Looking to yesterday we had some exciting items to bid on. My favorites of the day were the Pyramid x game, the bunk bed, and the Cylon tub. Who doesn’t want to take a bath in the Cylon tub? …Although that story with the Cylon goo makes me wonder a bit. Frak it, bring on the goo!

There was also a lot of excitement over the Battlestar Galactica emblem, which really got the crowd going! My favorite moment has to be my awesome win, Novacek‘s table and stunt leg, which I got signed by Michael Hogan. Frak yea! Another great moment was the last item, the Galactica podium, which was selected by Ron Moore to have all proceeds donated to a charity of his choice. Everyone cheered as the bids went up and up to almost 5 thousand dollars! What a great way to end the auction.

I have to say that this has been an amazing journey and I’m so proud to have been a part of it. I’ve also enjoyed the opportunity to meet all of you and watch how happy you were to see all of this. It’s a bit sad to think that none of this stuff will ever be in the same place ever again, but I’m glad to know that you guys will give the props a good home where they will be loved and appreciated forever.

I look forward to hearing from you guys and will be posting more about this weekend as the days go on. We will be breaking down everything and shipping everything back to our warehouse in Santa Ana today so be the on the lookout for your props!
