New eBay Auctions Up now.

March 30, 2009

While our new auctions started Sunday night around 7:00 PST, due to eBay’s database being very slow, they weren’t visible till 3 hours later.  We are going to work with our eBay account manager on this, but please check out the auctions, which this week include a Red Dress from Number Six!

Colonial Raptor and Viper Mark VII

March 25, 2009

In this week’s eBay auctions, we are offering the Colonial Raptor and the Mark VII Viper full-size ships up for sale. These full-size pieces were used in filming of the show and are the only two pieces of their kind in existence. Each ship is made of wood, foam, and metal, and the instrumentation on them does work. (Ok, OK… they’ll light up anyway… they won’t fly the ship off the ground and into space, otherwise we’re sure NASA would like to take a look at them.)

Interior view of the back section of the Raptor, where Helo and other "backseaters" sat during the series run.

Each ship comes with its own kit that allows the ships to be powered from a regular wall outlet and includes VGA hookups so that you can hook your computer to them and play back the DRADIS screens on the built in LCD monitors inside each ship. (The Viper has one LCD screen, the Raptor more than a few.) A disc including the static graphics will be included in each set.

A few pieces of technical information on each ship:

  • The Mark VII Viper has a wingspan of 14′, measuring 30′ long by 13’6″ tall, with an approximate weight of 2,200 to 2,500 pounds. The wings on both the side and top are removable for easy transportation and storage, and the Viper’s main body is on casters allowing for easy movement.
  • The Raptor is a considerably larger ship, measuring 10.8″ tall by 22’6″ wide by 30′ long, and weighing approximately 6,000 pounds. The pontoons and the wings on top are removable for easy storage. The Raptor itself is on casters that allow it to be moved relatively easily.

Each of these wonderful pieces of science fiction history include a full assembly manual for these ships with photographs.

Storage can be arranged for several months if needed through the NBC/Universal storage supplier, at the rate of $ 400 per ship per month.

Transportation needs to be by Tractor/Trailer and a 10’3” Air-Ride equipped version is needed.

Anyone who is interested should contact Alec Peters, Propworx CEO at 404-918-1701.

Galactica Patches

March 19, 2009

As those following our eBay auctions are now aware, there are three different versions of Galactica patches used during the course of the series. As with all the battlestar patches in the series, these were all 3.5. The first version is a lighter patch made during the Miniseries, when the show’s backdoor pilot was shot in standard definition film. When Battlestar Galactica went to series, the costume department created better patches made out of a better material with a golden color, thus version two. The third version of the patch was created roughly around and after 2005, the patches were made with a newer, darker brown material as the previous material became unavailable. This third and final style of patch also includes a smaller 2.5″ patch that was used exclusively on the gray sweatpants seen in the series.

Below are photographs of the three patches available, which are presently listed on our eBay auction site.

Will there be more eBay auctions?

March 17, 2009

I have been getting this question a lot lately, and at this moment I can’t give you an answer.  Propworx was originaly contracted to have auctions each week there were episodes to air of the last of Season 4.  With that coming to an end, and the Second Live Auction looming, if we will have more items this Friday is a bit up in the air.  We have made a proposal for an extension of the eBay auctions to NBC/Universal, and are awaiting their answer.  I hope to have more info for you by Friday!

And if you are asking if there is more stuff, the answer is yes.  But not a lot.  Many of the really good items we are out off, and there are only so many costumes on the racks.  There are some great items in the Second live Auction Catalog of course, as we selected those items before the eBay auctions started.  That catalog should be out middle of April.

Stay tuned for more details.

Vintage Officer’s Uniform Costume Sketches

March 4, 2009

Up on eBay this week are two concepts for the Vintage officers uniform, as briefly seen in the flashback scenes from the DVD movie “Razor.” As you can see, there are two styles online, as designed by Costume Designer Glenne Campbell and done by artist Terry Pitts. These are one-of-a-kind watercolor sketches, the first being inspired by the look of the officers from the 1978 Battlestar Galactica television series, and the second more in style with a US Air Force uniform.
