Live Auction Shipping Update

January 31, 2009

The Propworx crew is working this weekend to facilitate the shipping of all the Live Auction items over the next two weeks by Collectible Shipping Service.  We have hired extra crew to focus on our eBay auctions, so my core team can make sure that all the lots remaining to be shipped from the live auction get shipped within the next two weeks.  If you were a winner in the Live auction you should:

1) Read this web site for updates.

2) Contact Alec directly at alec@propworx.com if you have an issue.

3) Be patient.  Waiting up to 4 weeks for an item from a live auction is not unusual.  Many of you have never bid in a Live Auction before and expect you item to show up the same week.  It doesn’t work that way when you have three companies, 800 lots and over 400 customers who all bought stuff at the same time.

Meanwhile, almost every one of the eBay items from the Monday, January 19th eBay auctions has shipped.  If you don’t understand why these shipped before a Live Auction item, it is because eBay auctions are fully automated and we handle everything internally.  That isn’t the case when dealing with a live auction.  There are seperate groups handling payments, shipping and the auction.

We are working our butts off and ask that you just be reasonable and patient.  If you need help, contact me.

Live Auction Items Shipping

January 29, 2009

If you won items in the Live Auction last week, those items (assuming they are paid for) will start shipping next week.  Collectible Shipping Service is in charge of this and they are working out of our warehouse to ship everything to you in a timely manner.  Understand there were some 400+ winning bidders, with 800 lots of props, costumes and some very large set pieces, so please be patient.  Not everything is shipping out next week!  PropWorx is handling the creation of the Certificates of Authenticity and placing the holograms on each item, then the item is passed off to CSS for shipping.  Please note that CSS is a business and therefore charges for their services.  While they charge exact shipping and crating (where applicable), they also charge a handling fee for each item, though they have agreed to discount their fees on large orders.  None the less, they are much cheaper than many of the auction house shipping services we checked out.  You can contact Barbara Lindley at CSS by email at barbara@collectibleshipping.com.  But rest assured, your items will be packed well and arrive safely!

Updated eBay Auction Notes!

January 26, 2009

Sorry all, we are training a whole new crew on eBay auctions and so the first couple weeks may have a few bumps in the road!  But we have great people and a great process, so all will go smoothly shortly.  Most importantly we are always here and will answer your calls and emails promptly.  So if you have an issue, DON’T FREAK OUT!  We are cool and will always resolve your issue.

NOTES:

1)  The missing photos are up on eBay.

2)  The Viper, Adama’s desk and handguns, will all return as soon as we deal with eBay thinking we are some international arms smuggler!

3)  At the request of SciFi Channel, auctions will launch at 7pm PST, 10pm Eastern to correspond with the East Coast airing of the episodes.  As we space auctions out at 1 minute intervals, the auctions will be listed over 3 hours.

4)  Please also note, that the Viper, Adama Desk, Colonial One chair, CIC chair, Pilot Ready Room chair, Metal chair, Ward Room Chair, Ballot Boxes, Dradis Console and Red Stroller all have additional shipping charges.  They were accidentally launched without correct shipping costs.  Shipping for these items will be charged at exact shipping rates.  Most of these items need to be sent freight.  After the auction, you may contact us to arrange shipping at 714-850-1207.

Also, please pay attention to this web site and join the Battlestarprops forum for more info!

Thanks!

eBay Auctions, Week 2

January 24, 2009

The second week of Battlestar Galactica auctions is up on eBay now.  There will be approximately 140 auctions total when they all launch.  This week includes uniforms, hand held computers, pictures of Admiral Cain, and chairs from Colonial One and the CIC!  There is something for every budget.

This week we have tuned the auctions a bit.  Auctions will launch, starting at 7pm PST and will launch every minute so you can follow them all closing next Friday.

Plus, make sure you follow the discussion on the Battlestarprops Forums.  Each week, collectors discuss the auctions being held.  You also will get unique insights into the items for sale and maybe even a sneak peek at what is to come.

Finally, stay tuned to this blog as Sunday we will have a review of last week’s live auction!

Good hunting!

New eBay Auctions Launch Friday

January 21, 2009

Due to problems with the eBay auction management system we use (which was down last night when we were set to launch auctions to end Friday), we have added those auctions to Friday’s queue, and we will have 200 auctions launch Friday.  This will include items from episode 413, which aired last week, and episode 414, which airs this Friday!

Last week’s eBay auctions included lots inexpensive items so every Battlestar fan could afford a piece of the show.  We also had some great pieces like a Book of Pythia and a Viper Flight Manual.  So tune in Friday night.  Auctions should launch around 6pm PST.

Also, you all shoudl be a member of the Battlestar Props Forum to keep posted about what is going on and chat with fellow collectors!

All Production Art photos now posted!

January 17, 2009

We have finally been able to post scans of every piece of production art and set plans.  Many of the production art lots have multiple pieces, and you can now see every one of those pages online at auctionnetwork.com.  We posted the 11″x17″ scans this past week, and now all the oversize lots, specifically lots # 1-10, which are all larger than 11″ x 17″ have had scans of every piece posted.

Good luck to everyone in today’s auction!

Production Art

January 16, 2009

For those of you who want to find something inexpensive in the live auction, you need look no further than the 90 or so lots production art. We realize that many of the people can’t afford to walk away with an Arrow of Apollo, or the Iconic Six Red Dress, or even a Raptor, so the economical choice from this auction is going to be—in our own opinion, of course—the production art. A majority of lots consist of multiple pages of production art, such as the obsolete set drawings over four seasons, or the Colonial pistols.

A piece of Lot 8 depicting the suicide bombing at the New Caprica Police Academy in Season 3's "Occupation."

This is a piece of the Cylon Missile Concepts set from Lot 44.

Many of these are beautiful pieces in their own right, with intricate detailing by production artists such as Ken Rabehl (the artist who did the very sought after “Cylon War” painting in Adama’s Quarters) and original pieces that will likely never be seen again. Or wouldn’t have been seen at all, were there not an auction!

One good suggestion we have is that a group of friends can pool their money to buy a lot, and share the sketches between themselves (or divide them up accordingly.) Then they can have someone who is the designated bidder who will bid on the lot.

If you’re not going to be at the auction, and can’t see the actual art in person in Pasadena, we have made it extremely easy for you to peruse our selection of production art. Simply go to Auction Network’s website, sign up (you’ll need a valid credit card) and get together with your friends (or BSG loving family) and see what you can do to snag a piece of Battlestar history.

200 Battlestar Galactica auctions Live on eBay

January 13, 2009

As part of our Live Auction weekend, Propworx has launched 200 auctions on eBay, that will end Monday, January 19th, the day after the Live Auction ends.  These 200 auctions are less expensive items, including several “Dutch” auctions, which means that each of the Dutch auction lots have multiples of the same item.  The idea is to give every collector a chance to win a genuine piece of Battlestar Galactica.

There is a Book of Pythia, a mini-series script and production sketches are all great items that will make hard core fans stand up and take notice.  Patches, Viper nameplates, ration packs and items from Baltar’s lab are all part of the auction as well.  There are even over 30 costumes available, including Carolanne Adama, Admiral Adama’s wife.

You can find the items all here.

Good hunting!
