Galactica Hangar Bay Signs
November 30, 2008
Yesterday, I wrote a post about the nice, sleek and clean signage from Pegasus‘s hangar bay from “Razor.” As one would expect, Galactica also has its own signage, although considerably more older and weathered.
These pieces measure 21″ x 14″ and there are two lots (Lot 686 and 689) that are featured in the first auction. Some pieces from those lots are shown below.
Of course, the set decoration crew used many different signs like these to aid in the illusion that Galactica‘s hangar bays were huge. One such sign is below.
Pegasus Hangar Bay Signage
November 29, 2008
For the first time in Battlestar Galactica, we get to see the inside of Pegasus‘s hangar bay—which looks conspicuously similar to Galactica‘s own hangar bay—in “Razor“. (Obviously, that’s because it is the same set, just redressed differently and a lot cleaner.)
A few simple changes were made to that set to make it seem like it could be Pegasus‘s hangar deck. One of those changes come in the form of the signage on the walls.

A shot of the Pegasus hangar bay (a redressed verison of Galactica's own hangar bay) with black signage and the black and chrome wall phone units, amongst other aesthetic changes.
These signs are made of plastic and measures 20″ x 10″, and two lots of three signs each will be featured in the first auction. Here are some closeup shots of the various wall signs used for “Razor”.
Galactica CIC Wall Ornament
November 25, 2008
Above the arches leading to the two major doorways of Galactica‘s CIC are circular wall ornaments that show the ship’s name and Battlestar Group number, in this case “BSG-75″.
These ornaments, of which only two exist, are made of wood and painted gold and black. Measuring 33 1/4″ in diameter and 2″ deep, these items are iconic pieces of Galactica‘s CIC—particularly as one of these seals were featured at the end of the opening credit sequence in Season 1. Further, the existence of such ornaments are echoed in both Pegasus‘s and Valkyrie‘s CICs, in addition to various larger ornaments such as those seen at the Caprica Transfer Station in “Razor” and President Richard Adar‘s office in Season 2′s “Epiphanies“.
Gaeta’s “Butterfingers” Pen
November 21, 2008
In Season 3′s “Taking a Break From All Your Worries“—after Gaius Frakking Baltar unceremoniously returns from the algae planet in a body bag—he is given a welcome home celebration of interrogation, drugs, threats of being airlocked… and stabbed with a pen by his previous aide de camp, Felix Gatea.
Fortunately for the viewing audience, one of the greatest characters in history is not taken out by a whimpy pen, as Admiral William Adama punches Gaeta, thereby allowing Cottle to prevent any further damage. Still, once Baltar is safe, he manages a comical dig into Gaeta during Baltar’s trial in “Crossroads, Part II” when bringing up the fact that Gaeta tried to kill him with a pen: “And you missed, butterfingers!”
These metal pens measure 7 1/2″ in length, with the pen tip portion of the item capable of retracting into the hollowed out tube. The pen cap, attached at the end here, cannot be removed.
Colonel Tigh’s Flask
November 20, 2008
One of Colonel Saul Tigh‘s well-known vices is alcohol, which he falls back upon in tough situations—such as taking command of the Fleet after Commander Adama is shot twice by Cylon agent Sharon “Boomer” Valerii, or losing the fleet.
Originally, Colonel Tigh poured alcohol in a metal cup, as seen in the Miniseries. However, later on he resorts to hiding his alcohol needing tendencies by hiding his flask in a holster around his left leg, just above his boot.
The flask, which also features a small area for Tigh to put a few cigarettes in, is a 5.5 oz bottle capable of handling ambrosia or the like.
There are stunt rubber versions of this flask, which were used in scenes when the prop had to be thrown, such as down one of the corridors in Season 2′s “Resistance” after interrogating Galen Tyrol.
Demetrius Foam Core Model
November 18, 2008
In the construction of the various large-scale or complicated sets for the series, the art department for the production created various foam core models as a visual aid for how a set would appear visually.
One such model is that of the Demetrius, the sewage recycling ship Admiral William Adama gives to Kara Thrace (who believes to be able to feel the way to Earth) in order to search for the fabled thirteenth colony.
This foam core model, which will be auctioned off in our first auction, measures 24″ x 16″ x 5.5″.
And here are some pictures of the final product.
Colonial Rocket Launcher
November 17, 2008
The Colonial rocket launcher, also known as the rocket-propelled grenade launcher, is seen only once during the show’s run. It is seen during Season 3‘s “Exodus, Part I” when a Colonial Marine fires it into two Centurions who ambush a meeting between Colonial Military personnel and the New Caprica Resistance at Breeders Canyon.
This piece will be available for the first auction and is actually a modified PVC pipe toy rocket launcher facsimile with hinged handle/trigger with trigger guard. The piece includes non-functioning sight. Unextended length 27″ long x 10″ x 6″. Extended length 38 3/4″.
Six’s First Miniseries Costume
November 14, 2008
The first costume that Number Six is seen wearing in the series is a two-piece, custom made red velvet jacket and skirt with orange iridescence.
This costume is first seen at the beginning of the Miniseries as worn by the Six who boards the Armistice Station, much to the Armistice Officer‘s astonishment. It is in this costume that the Six asks him if he is alive and then proceeds to kiss him as a Cylon basestar above the station launches missiles at it.
It is worn later by Sixes that board Ragnar Anchorage to retrieve Aaron Doral, who Gaius Baltar—by mere chance—outed as a Cylon.

Two Sixes on Ragnar Anchorage as they discuss the fleeing remnants of humanity at the end of the Miniseries, before Number Eight ("Boomer") is revealed to be a Cylon.
Pegasus CIC Console
November 13, 2008
As part of the first auction, we will be selling off one of the venerable consoles from Pegasus‘s CIC. This console is one of the one-manned standing stations in front of the tactical plots, and consoles of its kind have been manned by Colonel Jack Fisk in “Razor“, Mei “Freaker” Firelli in “Pegasus” and “Resurrection Ship“, and even by Lieutenant Hoshi in Season 2′s “The Captain’s Hand“.
Later, this console makes a fleeting appearance in Valkyrie‘s CIC in Season 3′s “Hero” during the flashback sequences when Commander William Adama (wearing Admiral’s pins, nonetheless!) is on his secret mission to the Armistice Line a year before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies.
In fact, since the appearance was so fleeting, you can see an exclusive never-before-seen photo of Valkyrie‘s CIC.
The console consists of four pieces: a wireless multimedia keyboard, an LCD screen, a non-functioning dummy telephone, and a gimmicky speaker panel made from a severely economical phone answering machine. The console includes the VGA and power cable for the monitor, but not the wireless receiver for the keyboard.
Here’s a peek at some of the low-res digitized sketches and construction plans for this console. Note that these sketches will not be included in the first auction.

Construction plans for the console's stand.
